So close
Read all the books so I had to see the show. It was a solid B effort. I say that because I was so distracted with the terrible wig on Wrath that I had trouble staying focused on storyline. Seriously. In the love scene, Beth almost pulls the wig off. Can't they use creative license and have him shear his hair off in some ritual of grief for a fallen brother? Then they'd just have to dye his hair black and the actor can still be beautiful and menacing without coming off like a teen girl doing hair flips. And, though I like the actress who plays Beth, I'm afraid Passionflix is going to go the way of the Hallmark channel and recast her in everything as if there are only four actresses on Planet Earth. I'm going to watch all the episodes, but I hope they tighten up some things that give it a low budget vibe.

True to the books!
This series is the first book in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by JR Ward. The book series is incredible and this series on Passionflix is staying true to the books making it amazing! The cast is spectacular! The special effects, the directing, the score and episodes are truly outstanding! If you have not jumped into this world by any means, this will reel you in quickly and prompt you to read the books as well. Each episode leaves you wanting for more and more. The episodes drop at 12:01am Thursday mornings and I am there for it and will continue to be! The BDB fan base crashed the sight the first day the first episode dropped! Come join this outstanding journey!

Soooo. Have been a fan of this series for too many years to count. When I heard the platform this series was going to air on, I was hesitant to watch. Fast forward I bought a month trial and watched the first episode. At first I thought this is going to be super cheesy. As I continued to watch I began to appreciate the casting, the strict following of the script of the books and the flow of the show. Would like Rhage's dragon to be more realistic. It did take me a hot moment to embrace Wrath's wig but as I continued to watch I got on board. Butch's acting is spot on as is Marissa's. I think I am most excited to see Z's and Vichous's characters grow. Overall I am not disappointed and I hope they choose to consider finishing this series out in future episodes. I would definitely watch. To be honest, most new movies or series leave much to be desired, so this series, although not perfect at this time has great potential to continue and perfect. I hope it does.
BDB Episode one. Promising start
Going into this, I'll be honest - my expectations were low. When I first heard the Black Dagger Brotherhood books were being adapted, I didn't expect much, especially given the challenges of translating such a beloved series and the likelihood of a smaller budget.
But after following a few behind-the-scenes clips and teasers on TikTok, I was surprised by the production quality. Considering the probable budget constraints, the results are genuinely impressive. As a long-time fan of the books, just seeing these characters brought to life on screen was exciting - but what really surprised me was how decent the first episode actually was!
Most of the acting was solid, with Beth, Darius and butch standing out in particular - they felt authentic and grounded. Wrath came across a little flatter by comparison, but I think that's more a challenge of the medium than the performance. In the books, so much of Wrath's complexity is internal, and it's hard to translate that depth without access to his thoughts. I get why that might come off differently on screen.
The lead Lesser(forgive me, I forget his name) was genuinely fantastic. Creepy, unsettling, exactly what you want from a villain. And Billy? I already hate him, but in the best way possible. That's clearly the point, and it's working.
All in all, I think the show has done incredibly well with what they had to work with, and I believe fans of the series will be happy. I really hope they get the chance to continue and find their rhythm - to fall into their own as a show. Yes, at times the dialogue can feel a bit forced, and there are moments where non-readers might struggle with the world-building, but honestly, those are minor flaws. Especially for a project on a lesser-known streaming platform like Passionflix.
Given the source material, the passion behind the project, and the clear effort from the cast and crew, they've done a great job. Here's hoping for more seasons!

A Fang-tastic Turnaround: My Review of the Black Dagger Brotherhood Series (Show-Only Perspective)
As a long-time enthusiast of all things vampiric, I was naturally drawn to the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. It's important to note that this review is based solely on my experience watching the show, as I haven't had the opportunity to read the books that many are discussing.
I must admit, my initial foray into this world of powerful vampires and intricate lore was a bit... slow to ignite. The first few episodes left me feeling somewhat lukewarm, struggling to fully connect with the characters and the unfolding narrative. It felt a little disjointed, and I found myself wondering if it would truly capture my attention.
But oh, how things changed! I'm incredibly glad I stuck with it, because the series underwent a remarkable transformation. The pacing picked up, the character development deepened, and the plot threads began to weave together in a truly compelling way. The last three episodes, in particular, were an absolute revelation. They were gripping, emotionally resonant, and showcased the true potential of this vampire saga. The action intensified, the stakes felt higher, and I finally found myself completely immersed in the world of the Black Dagger Brotherhood.
By the end, I was not only thoroughly entertained but also left with a strong desire for more. The significant improvement in the latter part of the series has me eagerly anticipating what comes next. I'm genuinely hoping for many more seasons or at least additional episodes to continue exploring this rich universe and its fascinating inhabitants.
For any fellow vampire lovers out there, if you find the beginning a bit challenging, I urge you to persevere. The Black Dagger Brotherhood truly hits its stride, delivering a progressively better and ultimately very satisfying experience. It's fantastic to see another well-produced vampire show emerge, and I'm thrilled to be along for the ride!
