Sumathi valavu (2025 ) is a failed attempt to create a comedy plus horror, which terribly gone wrong. Is it a comedy movie ? Hell NO, all cliche comedies that did not work single percentage. Is it a horror movie? Double hell NO. Utter failure cartoon network animations and usually jump scares and extreme sounds. Night shots are like camera man put a grey silk saree over the lens. Poor editing. Unwanted songs which did not added any thing to story line. Even the songs did not sound / lyrically impressed any one. In complete songs.

Arjun ashokan should really re-consider his movie choosing. Was he really normal while he said yes for this story.. am sure he was not. Characters don't have any impact made to watchers, felt like 2d images which moves.

I watched Sumathi Valavu with high expectations, mainly because the place is already well-known on social media as a haunted spot in Kerala. Many believe it's a place where a ghost appears at night-but the film doesn't fully explore that idea.

Instead of focusing on the ghost story, the movie tells the story of a village family, with the ghost of Sumathi added in as a side plot. While the film tries to show her as a protective spirit, the story doesn't go deep enough to make an impact.

Some scenes were okay, and the concept had promise. But overall, the film felt average. A few songs felt unnecessary and slowed the pace. With a better script and direction, it could've been much stronger.

Final verdict: A watchable movie if you're curious about the "Sumathi Valavu" legend, but not the horror thriller you might expect.

I couldn't connect with the main characters, making the sad moments fall flat. The horror moments were just cheap jump scares rather than genuine suspense. Visually, the panning shots were beautiful, but excessive and loud background music ruined the atmosphere and immersion. Sound mixing felt like it was trying to be immersive but due to the narrow dynamic range, felt overly loud and distracting. The movie was painfully slow, dragging on with dull dialogues that lacked any character depth. The pacing made it boring, and the numerous songs made this worse. Honestly, it feels like this movie covers most of the lessons on how not to make a film. The writing was weak, and it failed to deliver anything close to an entertaining experience - let alone horror.

Sumathi Valavu is a one-time watchable film. While it carries the label of a horror movie, don't go in expecting real horror - the scary elements are too minimal to make any impact. If you just want to spend some time and relax without thinking too much, this might work for you.
