Invasion '53

Wonderfully kitschy and extremely entertaining. If Rod Serling had ever written an episode of "I Love Lucy", it would look like this. The production design really captures the era and the Black & White cinematography and looks gorgeous. You can tell they really went out of their way to find the correct period props and costumes, and it adds authenticity to the nostalgia.

The Cast is generally great across the board, even if they are playing established types. Each get s a moment to shine. When Jeffrey Coombs shows up, he brings just the right vibe and carries the role mostly with his physical performance alone.

Fun fiasco of a 50's dinner party that would make Beaver Cleaver's Spider-Sense clang like a chow bell. But the dinner party does not notice just how weird is the guest with the deadpan face with volcanic anger seething behind it.

The weird guest is Buster Keaton stone-face controlled rage. His spine is flagpole stiff-and-straight, his speech is clipped and stiff-lipped, his eyes almost burn holes through his glasses. The other dinner guests are smiling and 50s-black-and-white oblivious to their happy goofy convo and most other deadly dangers.

Watch this short, it will make you laugh and dry up your zits.

This movie had me hooked from the start. I absolutely loved the black and white, 1950's era it took on and adored the set design, costumes and casting! It felt like this cast had worked together for years. Jeffrey Combs fit right in and knocked it out of the park. This role was perfect for him! Each character brought something special to the dynamic of the party, and the flow of conversation felt so natural.

The music score brought it all together, perfectly setting the scene and ambiance.

I truly wish the cast and crew the best of luck in future screenings and endeavors. You all did an amazing job!

I can't wait for more people to see this film.
