I loved everything about this series. The way the characters evolved in the show was so refreshing and the theme was relevant to the world we are living in. Some people complained that the story was set in Greece but the characters spoke Italian because of where and who produced it. That did not bother me in the least as I had English subtitles on. I do hope they will make more. Truly a great series 👏
I'm only 20 minutes into it but that's usually enough time for me to say yay or nay. I didn't realize it was an Italian production and was wondering why I was hearing Greek characters say things like "grazie". No different than American or British shows set in other countries where everyone amazingly speaks English. I use subtitles anyway.
After binge watching another show, this show just started playing. I didn't even know what it was, but the music and scenery just grabbed my interest. Well, I like it! Stefano Fresi, Commisioner Kostas, is funny, smart, onery, and tenacious. Good supporting cast, but my favorite is Adriana (Francesca Inaudi). She can be mousy (50's housewife), but behind that, she is fierce and strong. She really loves the difficult Kostas and it's entertaining to watch how they engage - clever with light, funny bantering. The plots are not all that mind boggling, but it's entertaining and I hope it continues. The only complaint, and this is on me, is that I have to really pay attention and follow the English subtitles. I don't speak Italian, maybe I might learn...LOL.
I just watched Kostas on Acorn and found it to be an excellent mystery series with good characters and plots. I just want to point out to those planning to watch it on Acorn that mini-series may be a misnomer. While this IMDB listing lists eight episodes, Acorn has the whole series in four, clearly doubling each of the original into one, each lasting a little under 2 hours. The first nearly 2 hour episode is a self contained mystery. The next three episodes have two mysteries, one after the other, but the end of one and beginning of the next occurs in the middle of episode three. Thus, if you are not binge watching it in one session I would suggest you watch episode one, then episode two and the first part of episode three and finally the last part of episode three and four. That way you see the three separate mysteries in three sessions.
