John Brown the Advocate

Loved the historical nature of this film! It was an abolitionist story that I was unaware of. I really enjoyed the content of the characters dialog. I watched certain sections more than once just to soak in the conversations between the main characters so that I understood what might have played a part in shaping John Brown into the man he became. He is referred to by other well known leaders in the underground railroad, like Harriet Tubman. This is the first film I have watched regarding the happenings in his life that seem to have led to his direct involvement with the underground railroad and the consequences he suffered for it.

This story grabbed me. One of the scenes is so intense it was difficult to watch. I am amazed at how well Eddie and the young actor pulled the scene off. In many other scenes the dialogue goes so deep it hits your heart. I loved the arguments over the issue and that fact the movie lets you decide. Knowing the history behind it adds extra flavor to story as well, so I suggest doing an overview of the history. One of my favorite actors is the guy who plays Aaron Stevens. It was super funny how he dealt with the marshal, and he plays the half crazy, real guy, well. In history Aaron ended up hanging too at the age of 29.
