... I was quite surprised, actually.. as I entirely expected a kid's show. But it has "horror" like aspects at times, and a lot of unexpected depth! Like judging someone for their kindness, and how such a character causes negative consequence.

It had great visuals and consistent quality throughout. From the effects, animation, camera work, and especially every piano action-scene stand out as highlights.

The story balances both Melody and Kuromi evenly.

That said, it can be hard to follow at the start, and the villain Pistachio feels a bit too underweitte to to leave much of an impression.

Overall though, it's a surprisingly layered experience and not at all what I expected.

They truly have outdone themselves with this adorable series! First, the stop motion animation is absolutely incredible, especially the materials they used...not just clay, but the fluffy cotton candy material they used for some of the little smoke/cloud effects is just too cute! Everything from the backgrounds, the lighting and of course the characters are wonderful. The storyline is fun and interesting, my 5 year daughter absolutely LOVES the Sanrio universe... My Mel & Kuromi are her absolute top favorites...so this show was perfect for her. I really hope they do more of this stop motion style of animation for hopefully...MAYBE a second season, or maybe another set of characters!?!!
