Amazing Movie for Every Faith Beleiver

Amazing Movie, I think everyone should watch this movie. But i can't even buy a DVD and I really had to see this movie on Youtube in a very bad print. This movie entails the true story on all the criminal priests of India. Also this movie entails about Blind faith, how people follow anyone thinking they are God but thy are actually trying to scam people. Hardly there are any songs in the movie. But Everyone's acting is phenomenal including Abhimanyu who is the main character in this movie.

Highly recommend everyone should watch this movie.

    I will definitely recommend it - 10/10

    Dissapointing

Sadly talented actors sanjay mishra and pankaj tripathi are wasted, if the script would have been strong this two actors would taken this movie to other level.

This is just another movie on fake babas no matter how many project is made on such issues many indians who follow such babas will not stop they will continue doing it for years to come.

The script and direction is poor. Abhimanyu has good personality and he did sone good work in South. Here he does not have much to do.

Any one who is interested in such subject can watch it once.

It requires courage to make such movies in India

Global Baba mostly went unnoticed because of lack of marketing and also its title was not the kind which we expect a good movie to have. But despite all this, it was a fine film. Though it had the same premise of God Men and blind faith, as we have seen in films like OMG! Oh My God or more recently Pk but it was tackled in a totally different way. It was a loud and serious film and remained so throughout its length. Towards the end a line flashes on the screen saying 'Let the Godmen earn your trust, not earn from your trust.' It is then, when you realise that the entire film has made the impact and has succeeded in giving the message it wanted to give. I will highly recommend this as it is one of the better films of 2016. I would give it a 9/10.

A griping tale of Deceit, Corruption and Blind Faith.

This is a movie that every one should watch. Though the subject of the film is not new or anything that we haven't seen but it is the acting and execution that takes it to a whole new level.

Global Baba is a biting recreation of the world of god men, perfectly well-timed considering the goings-on around us these days. How easy is it to perform miracles and build cults overnight, how the babas are emerging as the alternate power centres. These are the babas who are so cash rich that they could even offer loans to Swiss banks. Instead of teaching scriptures they ensure a short cut to heaven to their beleaguered followers. Of late there have been several Hindi films dealing with god men, superstition and blind faith. Global Baba takes the narrative a step forward to look at the more sinister side of it—the deadly mix of crime, politics and religion and how it is ruining the country. In the midst of it, the media also gets coopted and becomes a conduit needlessly, also at times voluntarily. India has been facing these issue since ages.

They ease with which these so called fake babas convince the general public, even the well educated people is just so disturbing. The movie beautifully portrays blind faith. Yes it is visibly rough in its story-telling, technique and texture. There might be a lack of cinematic sophistication and craft and far too many issues—land encroachment, tribal rights— grappling for space topped with a rather preachy speech from the logical, practical Bhola Pandit (Sanjay Mishra). However, the chaos on screen is an apt reflection of the anarchy that is the reality. Despite the shrillness and breathlessness of action it deals with a significant issue in all seriousness. So, I recommend everyone to see this movie. You'll not regret as there are hardly any dull moments in this one.

A film that may be loud but does talk sense

In India, faith trade is the most lucrative of the lot. Global Baba has the smarts but never shows us anything we haven't seen before. The promising Abhimanyu Singh (of Gulaal fame) is a politico's top henchman who survives a police encounter. The safest bet for him is to turn into a Godman. He wipes out his past and hides his misdeeds behind the garb of his saintly cloak. This is such a dependable plot that never loses context. Religion in India has always been a sensitive subject. Despite being a religiously diverse country, we never want to seek logic in our faith. In a wonderful scene, director Manoj Tewari explains how the masses are conditioned to buy into blind faith over logic. When Sanjay Mishra, who pays a local hero in the film, suggests yoga to an obese man, he doesn't take it kindly. Global Baba manages to 'cure' him by suggesting that he walks to a hill-top while chanting some magical words. The humour in that scene pinches you back to reality.

But the director's sharp thinking is limited to the film's plotting. It eventually becomes an overwrought tale that hardly has anything novel to offer. The characters are all uni-dimensional and clichéd - The Godman is sheer evil, the politicians are all scheming and corrupt, the cop is just rendered helpless, the journalist ends up being a victim and the masses, gullible.

The issues addressed are equally run-of-the-mill. Global Baba's ashram is on a land he has snatched away illegally from the advises. Every character is predictable and so is the film's story. Only in parts, the movie manages to hold your attention.

Global Baba is subversive but doesn't have an inventive streak. It points out problems without delving deeper or providing a solution. This one is just old wine in an old bottle!
