It was somewhat entertaining and easily kept my attention, but I didn't like the inconsistencies in the story.
There was a mystery that was gradually revealed and some scenes were frightening, but some parts of the story were incomplete and made little sense. And the ending was unsatisfying.
It was annoying that people were behaving stupidly and leaving themselves vulnerable in a life threatening situation - why not grab a weapon of some kind?

I've seen this far too many times, so it took few scenes to realize what is it all about. At a certain point I even got annoyed cause it seemed to keep the plot a mystery, but I managed to stay there and wait for the end.
Glad I did so, cause surprisingly enough, it had something to offer indeed. A better, darker execution, a possible more real situation, of course, not all of it, but I did enjoy it. As movies like this have you root for certain characters, here I was drawn into the family and hoped everything would turn out OK.
Again, my experience in these kind of movies taught me well, so there were no real surprises even tho they did focus on that, but without naming the movies they took the ideas from, or spoiling it, I'm just gonna say that you could watch this and not be completely disappointed. On a scale from 1 to 10 I rated it 5, cause it did some things different. But mostly, the same moves you've seen for a lifetime.
Cheers!

I don't understand these bad ratings.I liked this movie so much I re- watched it with my daughter.I'm looking for it to watch again for Halloween.I've been a horror movie fan my entire life and thought this was great.I'm not talking about gore like the final destination smut.I think horror film fans should see this and I notice everyone now thinks they are a movie critic. Was a good movie and I ended up standing on my couch being scared.Just my two cents
Not a bad movie, needed some direction. Also reminded me of the movie "The Boy". Also what happened to the cat???
Le saviez-vous
- AnecdotesMisty Upham's last film.
- GaffesOne major flaw (among many) of this movie was the existence of wide spaces between the walls and floors that allowed our mystery villain to be able to move silently and easily between the attic and the other floors. Construction of homes in the last 50 years does away with these spaces, reserved for pipe chases and duct work.
- Générique farfeluThe end credits descend rather than ascend.
