99 to Beat

The concept of this show is okay enough, 100 people compete in "Minute to Win It" style games and slowly (so slowly) the players who are last in each round get removed, with the winner eventually earning a million bucks.

The main problem I had with it is that it all moves very slowly. Most games eliminate one player at a time, and realizing you're going to have to sit through dozens of these games makes it feel like watching this series is a chore more than anything.

The hosts are not good. Fox's default reaction to giving every one of their game shows to Ken Jeong or Joel Mchale is lazy casting. But I would've preferred Joel to Ken's actual cohost, an NFL reporter who obviously through her delivery doesn't understand commenting on anything except the NFL.

There's a weird subplot of 12 members of the same family competing. I don't really understand why I'm supposed to care. I just don't. There are also other attempts to humanize the players through very brief commentary, but it doesn't work. I don't care about any of these people.

The games themselves range from dumb luck to win to being frustrating and annoying. Not fun to watch and there's no way to play along. It's just a watching a bunch of people wiggling on the floor. How compelling!

I really do hope this is cancelled. I don't understand why Fox keeps canceling their endless game shows only to replace them with an even worse one. "I can see your voice" and "Don't forget the lyrics" weren't great shows but they were way more entertaining than this garbage.

I'm not even sure where to begin. This could have been an entertaining "special"-like show... and definitely doesn't need multiple episodes. Most of the games/tasks have potential and could make for a fun game night at home, but they're definitely not worth $1,000,000. Then add in the awful, overdramatized commentary of the "hosts," and the overreactions of the contestants... good gawd. It honestly seems like they searched for some of the most ridiculous people to compete, or offered them extra $$$ to act as ridiculous as they do. I won't be finishing it and will just wait until the clips are up and I can just see what they had to do and who the final winner is.

Just a bunch of silliness. There's people on here that have already won big contests so I really don't know why they are on the show. Just put normal regular people on shows instead of these people who are famous in their own minds. The hosts go above and beyond to hype up all the nonsense. It was barely tolerable.

Bad audio (we watched on Hulu), excessive personal stories, comments, etc. It's a ripoff of Minute to Win It & Squid Games (sorry no carnage). Why do you need two hosts. Did you start with one and the test audiences forced you to bring in another host? The walk of shame card is a waste of airtime. A million dollars? I can see 100K but not a million. Three of us gave it a chance and we won't be watching again.

One hundred contestants face off in a series of competitions. At least one contestant is eliminated in each competition, until only one is left with the prize of $100,000.

Ken Jeong and Erin Andrews are called the "hosts", but their role is more like the sportscaster who sits up in the box and provides commentary on the game play. At least in the first episode.

You might recognize some of the competitors. I am familiar with three of them, having watched them in other television competitions.

The competitions are interesting. My only complaint is that there are some games that involve teams, so one's destiny might be decided by the efforts or skills of other players who happen to be on the same team.
