The Nazi Stargate plot
As a long-time fan of Stargate-and excited about the recent announcement that the series is being revived-I was happy to revisit this entry in the franchise. Put simply, it's an enjoyable addition, but it's nowhere near the level of the original film that started it all.
This time, the Nazis have solved the mystery of the Stargate and use it in an effort to obtain alien technologies and weapons to sustain the Third Reich forever. They take Katherine's father with them, since he understands ancient Egyptian. Katherine and her friends follow in order to rescue him; however, once they step through the gate, things quickly become complicated.
In many ways, the film echoes the original Stargate, and because the events here occur before the first installment, the writers clearly had to figure out how to end this story in a way that still allows the original movie to unfold naturally. I think the ending was fine-there's probably no other way they could make it look like this chapter never happened.

The Rating Seems a Little Low
The movie is entertaining, and is enjoyable to watch. It seems to be an alright fit into the Stargate cannon from what I can recall from the original movie and SG1. It's not perfect by any means, but most things aren't. It's definitely a better cannon fit than a lot of the Highlander films are to each other. I digress.
This movie has some heart, and characters that are likeable or hateable respectively. There is a clear plot progression and conclusion. The acting isn't spectacular by any means, but also isn't terrible. It is a decent addition to the Stargate universe.
Now, I will say that I have some confusion based on there being a series also called Origins and a musical maybe as well? I haven't seen any of these, and maybe the lower rating of this movie has something to do with how those fit in. I admit I am not inspired to see these, as I think they would probably not be as good. They might even change things for me in a way I wouldn't enjoy as far as Catherine's story is concerned.
