First off, let me just commend the people behind the wardrobe and color grading!
It was aesthetically pleasing to the eyes and truly brought life to the show!
The show follows Lilah's journey as she rediscovers her passion for music and reclaims her self-worth after being taken for granted and neglected by her husband, Kevin.
Kevin is too ambitious for his own good. His goal is to make it big in the music industry, to the point that he forgets why he started in the first place. I can't count how many times I called him TRASH (I AM SORRY), but that's how I perceived his character. The neglect, the gaslighting toward Lilah? Name it and he's done it.
I swear I rolled my eyes every time he suddenly acted like the perfect husband right after making a mistake, just because he knew Lilah would always take him back and forgive him. And the moment he's with Madison, he goes right back to being the red flag that he is.
Then there's Madison, the EX-GIRLFRIEND from hell with a hidden agenda. She's pure evil, going after a married man (we do NOT tolerate cheating here) and even using her pregnancy as if to spite Lilah, who's struggling to conceive.
And Jack! I have nothing but good words for you! THANK YOU FOR MAKING LILAH FEEL WHAT IT'S LIKE TO BE SEEN, TO BE RESPECTED, TO BE LOVED.
I just know it's always going to be a good watch when Nicole's in it, and this show proves it once again.
Nicole as Lilah showed us that when a woman has finally had enough, there's no going back. She will get the last laugh. SHE WILL NOT BE AN AFTERTHOUGHT.
With Nicole's range as an actress, it's no wonder she portrayed Lilah with such incredible depth. She conveyed every emotion in every scene so beautifully.
One scene I really loved was her duet with Kevin. Seeing Lilah sing with the man she once loved was a sign of courage. She was finally letting go, finally finding closure to their ill-fated relationship. I suddenly wanted to hug Lilah and tell her she did well-that she is worthy, that she is a star.
So thank you, Nicole, for breathing life into another beautiful character who made such a powerful impact on my sense of worth as a woman.
Side Note:
The CHARM BRACELET
I love the symbolism of using a charm bracelet to mark every heartbreak Kevin caused Lilah. She wore it with pride, but it also served as a painful reminder of how many times she was taken for granted. That alone is so heartbreaking.
Lilah Calling Her MOM
This moment was so sweet. Even though Lilah had severed ties with her parents, it was them she turned to for comfort when things got tough. I totally relate to this because whenever life gets messy, the first people I call are my parents.
Overall, this is such a meaningful show.
I finished it with a lesson in mind: always put yourself first, and be with someone who makes you feel what it's like to be SEEN.
