I'm a sucker for military action and special forces movies, so it's pains me to give this movie a low rating. Unfortunately, if you have any experience serving in the military this movie will be hard to watch.
It's perplexing how the special effects and environment look very realistic, but didn't seem to have some sort of Air Force advisor on set. Military movies in the 90s seemed to be worst for some reason, but the movie takes the cake. There are way too many issues to list here but I'm sure the Goofs section will be quite long. In particular, Russell Crowe's character makes zero sense as an Air Force Captain and his back story is ridiculous.
Having said all of that. If you don't mind these eye sores or don't know anything about the military , you might find some enjoyment somewhere in this.

I was REALLY looking forward to this film as Fincher is 2nd favorite director behind Michael Mann, as I am sucker for detail, slow-burning, noir-themed films and just fan of their style; however, this one falls quite flat. I would even go as far as to say this is his worst film since film since Alien 3.
My issues:
1. The plot is way too cliche and predictable. Nothing to spoil hear as the plot of the movie is written in its description and there's nothing more than that (e.g., Bourne series, Wick series). In fact, the movie "Kate" has the exact same plot and is vastly more entertaining albeit with a bit more campiness.
2. Hardly any dialogue between characters, in fact it's really just Fassbender and what seems to be NPCs in a video game. This leads to mostly in internal monologue hearing him repeat himself throughout the film.
Despite these two major flaws, there are some redeeming moments. One the fight seens is one the best I have seen since John Wick 1, which left me salvating for more...but there was actually less unfortunately. Also, even though Fassbender is not given much length here, he is quite convincing as an assassin. Actually, I would be somewhat interested in a sequel or two as the film ends somewhat vaguely.

Yikes! Not sure what all the 1s and 2s are about for the ratings here, but perhaps the expectations were too high for many.
I was expecting really just to see essentially a four episode cut-scene of what another RE game would be and that's pretty much what it is. Also, my expectations were as low as they could be due to the previous RE motion pictures and other animation entries. If you're expecting something ground breaking or something fleshed out like Netflix's "The Kingdom", you are going to be disappointed; however, if you just like RE games, the lore and tropes then it's worth a watch. Speaking of lore, this cut scene, I mean show, does seem to have a few inconsistencies with the some of the previous characters, but it does appear to be canon taking place between RE4 and RE5.
Lastly, only being four episodes...I get the feeling this is just a test bed to see how well something like this is received much like Castlevania S1.
