I am staggered at the adulation of the new Netflix miniseries "Adolescence". Every action is slow; instead of getting in the car, turning the key, getting to the hardware store, exit car , we have slow motion action complete with utterly uninteresting and pointless reminiscences about stupid childhood behavior of the now adult protagonists and the music they once preferred. If I wanted to just be bored with the tedium of life I could just go about my day, not spend hours in front of the television. And the plot is pointless: no conclusion is reached as to the possible cause of the tragedy. Nope, "just one of those things, just one of those crazy flings". Bah. I suggest a good book instead.
