What is the point of releasing a season like this? The first season was compelling throughout and complete. This one started strong and then seemed to throw paint at the wall until deciding to give up and say "tune in next time!". Why?
I'm sure I will still watch season 3, but I don't know how this can be considered a season by itself. It feels like a terrible version of movies which do part 1&2. Just delay the release until there is a complete story to tell in a season, because milking subscription months for Netflix like this is just sad. Even doing a weekly release of each episode would be preferable to splitting into 2 half seasons 6+ months apart.
The finale itself is incredibly unsatisfying and spends a lot of time on dull action scenes. I would rather have not known about this season until the rest of it is available, and wouldn't recommend watching season 2 until 3 is out.

The writers did a pretty good job incorporating elements of DnD into the movie. The overall narrative structure fit a DnD campaign, people have various powers and abilities but they don't feel "godlike" (for the most part), and characters have their own struggles and growth over the adventure.
The humor was generally good and I think many of the actors performed well. It is good to see that they didn't phone-in performances for what could've easily been a cash-grab film. The younger actors were clearly the weak points, but that is mostly to be expected and they did fine overall.
My main gripe with the film is that the combat didn't feel like DnD, it was much closer to a Marvel film. If they decide to do another DnD film I think this could be the biggest opportunity for improvement. They did well by incorporating many of the other elements of DnD, so if they can maintain that while adding in DnD combat it could easily be a 8 or 9 rating for me.
The villain is pretty one-dimensional and predictable so that could be something else to consider improving, but for a DnD movie I think it fit fine. If they managed to create a DnD movie which is on theme for the story, plot, characters, combat, as well as having a proper villain, well I'd be astonished and impressed.
Overall I was entertained throughout the film and was pleasantly surprised with it. I don't know how someone unfamiliar with DnD would like it, but I imagine it would still be a good time with the humor and actors.
