Stars a cast of very capable, strong, intense actors but Rudi Davies stands out, and not bc of her nude scene. Although she is physically beautiful, her screen presence was so incredible, I felt as though I was her, had met her, was friends with her.
We are close in age but I have never had that confidence. The intimate scenes with Mr. Eve, imo, showed how she totally absorbed the role. Her comfort and ease with her hyper ramblings and the hair, all her mannerisms, she NAILED IT. I believe she was 24 or 25 for this role, which given her beauty, intelligence, parents and confidence, she had life experiences that encouraged her strength, which I never had and found myself crushing on Rudi.
I also discovered that her character and I have something in common and that is an absent "father"; although def not the same outlook.
Her character didn't have the food and housing insecurities that I did so her acceptance about being abandoned by her sperm donor was easier to believe, esp since I had such contrasting experience.
I've personally never cared for Trevor Eve. Imo, he comes across very cocky in the roles in which I've seen him act. You might say, he's acting, but no, it's not that. His massive ego "jumps off the screen" BUT he was PERFECT for this role.
The desperation for love by Ingrid, her fixation on her ex-husband, Richard, his inability to completely severe their connection; giving false hope to Ingrid and their sons. Allowing Richard a fall-back relationship bc he doesn't feel worthy enough for his successful artist wife. It was real and believable to me. I feel as though I've lived some that. How relationships grow, change, disintegrate, the inability to "see" how unhealthy these relationships are and bc you're so "close" to the situation, you offer up excuses and acceptance, not realizing how miserable you are and how much your mental health is suffering.
I was "groomed" to accept the meager scraps of love and acceptance from my sperm donor and I could relate to the experiences of Ingrid, Mrs. Cramer (actress Morag, Trevor Eve's character's wife) and, with much less confidence, Sally (Rudi's role). In some ways, women, esp from my generation and earlier, were conditioned to accept and tolerate men's behavior. Obviously it's best summed up by one word: patriarchy. And it has to be said, women had limited rights in owning property, getting credit etc so that dependence has a GREAT EFFECT on what women have to decide is tolerable and intolerable and that line tends to move closer and closer, until women have no choice and aren't even sure they know themselves anymore. It's a painful and humiliating process that, if we can make it through, we def are stronger but that doesn't mean we are necessarily whole, if ever.

I was invested in this doc bc I recognized one, possibly two pics from a dating site, or two? It was easily 15 years ago or longer. I'm not certain if we messaged, I think we did...? I def remember him bc he does have a very nice smile, too bad it's all a deception.
I'm glad those women joined forces, helping other women to avoid the pain and humiliation that they felt. They are HEROES, SHEROS!!
Unfortunately some ppl would not care to prevent others from experiencing the same pain.
And some ppl wouldn't even know how to proceed.
Thank you strong lovely women! Thank you focusing your pain and trauma to make this world a little less s***.
Honestly, esp the women with his children, they are TRULY AMAZING.
Most of us who've dated have had heartbreaking experiences, experiences with dishonest ppl and it doesn't feel good. It affects your ego and your self-worth and if you already have any type of mental health issues, which is most of us, the experience can set us back and recovery can involve not bothering to even get out of bed.
KUDOS WOMEN! YOU DID GREAT!
