Directed by Tim Burton, Lady Gaga's music video for The Dead Dance makes an early opening to the 2025 Halloween season. The video's theme centers on vintage dolls with cracked porcelain faces and tattered clothes. Viewers encounter plenty of these eerie dolls, along with Lady Gaga herself costumed as one. Shot almost entirely in black and white, the video heightens its unsettling Halloween atmosphere, while Gaga's crystal-clear vocals cut through the darkness. Genre-wise, the song stays true to her signature dance-pop style, creating a striking contrast with Burton's creepy world of horrors. The lyrics, while dark and perfectly suited to the Halloween theme, carry a deeper message-transforming heartbreak and pain into empowerment through music and dance.
Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton are two of the most famous-and famously feuding-figures from early U. S. history. Both New Yorkers, they were constantly competing for power. Hamilton distrusted Burr's ambitions, often describing him as dangerous and unprincipled. Their lives intersected in politics, law, and, ultimately, one of the most infamous duels in American history. This animated short retells their story, centering on the 1804 duel and the events leading up to it. While the film doesn't reveal the outcome, of course history tells us how it ended.
A charming animated short film about two friends who wonder what a star might taste like and set out to find a way to try one. The short is executed in a style reminiscent of Disney's classic The Fox and the Hound, but with a more traditional visual art direction that brings to mind Winnie the Pooh. I really enjoyed the old-school, 2D-inspired animation style-it's always been a favorite of mine. As for the ending, it feels a bit abrupt; just a few more seconds would have given the film a more complete sense of closure. I get that it may have been an artistic choice, but still...
