Love how they've found a continuation that makes sense in the WD universe and adds gravitas to the tropes of faction warring and desperate survival.

Creating the right environment for favorite characters to affect was my main concern - a couple of WD seasons missed and worked-out, losing the essence of what made the show so compulsive. Here, it's been recaptured and mostly it's a treat for WD fans, without going into nostalgic pantomime.

Ultimately, the second season begins in scorching style, and despite your inherent denial after cheering on Rick & Co all those years, you really can't beat a bit of Negan in full flow...

This is nearly beyond parody.

Written by 12 year olds whose only experience of entertainment media has been cheesy MMO shoot-em-ups.

I really couldn't belive they made zero attempt at exposition and blundered through the entire mess of rehashed clichés and predictable scenes without a single hint of knowing irony.

Risible moments aplenty could have been tweaked into making this a comic pastiche of what it is; and would have made it a far better film.

Instead of laughing, though, you'll just watch aghast at the awful lameness of it all.

Shallow fare extraordinaire. Z-movie fodder that will eventually just annoy and anger you at snatching 90 minutes of your existence on this planet. You're not getting it back.

Nor are you getting any conclusive justification for the bizarre concepts laid out in the opening moments. Not a single coherent line of dialogue to at least offer any insight into the ideas behind this apocalyptic premise.

Just constant dumbfeckery with idiotic resolution and bizarre throwaway lines attempting to explain the bigger picture in a series of shoulder shrugs; 'no idea why', 'they just are', and an eye-roll towards the heavens that's supposed to cover the great revelation at the conclusion of this shoite. I mean, eh?

Utter contrived nonsensensical script that nobody involved with could be bothered, it seems, to scale it up above a failed middle-school end of term paper. Terrible. Except for the wee black kid - at least he has some acting talent. And Morena Baccarin's an always easy-on-the-eye MILF, giving it 100%

Amazed at all the wrong takes on this cheesy monster parody classic.

Take in context at its time of release - some of us are old enough to remember it well - Lake Placid was a wry smile of a genre pastiche.

Great performances from a knowing cast playing it straight with a subtly-honed script that pushes all the monster-cliche buttons but with rhythm and just the right tempo to draw you in and engage a sense of gleefully childlike anticipation as the threat gradually builds.

Stands the test of time due to the attention to detail and the great pacing. Definitely a fun watch nearly a quarter of a century on and deserves to be rated up around 7/10, because it's one of those rare treats of a monster movie that has lasting bite and remains eminnently rewatchable.
