This was a cleverly written little cute rom com in a sense about a single man who discovers he's the only person in town that can tell a lie. When things spiral into his favor from his first lie onwards, it seems that there's no stopping his rise to fame and fortune until he discovers the one thing he's missing in his life that he just cannot seem to lie about.
The movie is also chock full of cameos from big name celebs from Rob Lowe to Jennifer Garner to Tina Fey and even the late Phillip Seymour Hoffman. There's also some pretty funny written scenes that were written by main star Ricky Gervais too, who's a comedian by trade so it only helped the movie in its comedic favor.
So if anyone wants a cute and solidly written comedy about what happens if only one person can lie filled with a city of folks who are just gullible and inept to know any better, you'll find some amusement here.

It's quite refreshing revisiting the first two Shrek films, the best in the series. The second film holds up just as well as the first for me. It expands on the first storyline, this time with Shrek having to visit Fiona's parents when not is all as it seems, sending him on another entertaining quest with a new sidekick Puss N Boots, who's almost as funny as Donkey.
The cast in Shrek 2 is pretty stacked too, adding Antonio Banderes, John Cleese and Julie Andrews. The new musical numbers too are once again very entertaining and whimsical and catchy to boot. Some of the jokes are just as good as the first Shrek and once again for a PG flick there's innuendos galore for the adults.
And seeing the vast amount of medieval puns in Far, Far Away land that is supposed to resemble Hollywood and Beverly Hills was delightful as well.
Overall Shrek 2 is an awesome sequel to an original classic that has humor, heart and soul that's a joy to watch once of a bunch of times by yourself of with family.

Revisiting this classic and it still holds up supremely well almost 25 years later. Sure the CGI is a little dated and some current PS5 video games look better than it nowadays, but it's still a fun ride from start to finished and should be witnessed by anyone who's a fan of fairytale satire.
Eddie Murphy and Mike Myers are a superb dynamic duo of Shrek and Donkey. Eddie Murphy alone steals the show from beginning to end while other supporting characters all pull their weight and deliver hilarious performances with cleverly written dialogue that is at times way more mature than it's PG rating, with innuendos galore.
The reverse beauty and the beast like story arc happens to work to boot and is still relevant in the present. Shrek and Princess Fiona's chemistry ends up ramping up throughout the movie and by the end you understand why they belong together.
So if anyone out there still hasn't seen this classic, put on your fairytale best and take a trip to Shrek town for loads of laughs and some genuinely cute moments.
