We HADN'T seen this kind of thing before. It is unique, the look the tempo...and the story. First of all you must have empathy to really enjoy this film and that makes it doubly fabulous because it is a portrait of people who have less, and more empathy than they know what to do with. So if you are able to put yourself in someone elses shoes, be, if you will, a woman just out of prison returning to Venice California in the early 80's. Your husband is there living life like he. Never had anything to do with what happened to you. And you have no skills to deal with the inspid trench that is a drug store job. The little mean people hwo put themselves above you in so many ways. This character... she is at the bottom of the pecking order. But not for long. And there is our weird frightening tale. It's a true 'alternative' to Dead Rabbits.
I am always amused and slightly appalled by the extreme criterion folks use to judge art. They so often seem to have an agenda.
This is a wonderful, enthralling documentary. I was enthralled, it made the journey of the queen a human one, a woman's story, and one that gives far more dignity than a bunch of British talking heads disputing the value of a monarchy ever could. This is a wildly creative look at her job, and her life, I hope I am lucky enough to suffer such 'disrespect' as a film about my self offered with such higher art than usually finds a documentary.
