It has been decades that Francis For Coppola made a good movie, leave alone a commercially successful one. It's hard to believe this movie was already in production in 2001 and it still turned out to be so messy and bad. Typically I am not a friend of 1 star reviews because there is always talent in the production or performance but this does not apply to Megalopolis. The Visuals are outdated and contain some of the worst green screen scenes I have ever seen. I have seen young streamers on Twitch with better CGI. The outstanding cast couldn't save this mess. I didn't even know this movie ever made it to the cinemas, it made 14 Million wide... Coppola burned 120 Million for one of the most pretentious trainwrecks I have ever seen and after this incredible failure he announced a graphic novel, which is a clear sign that Coppola is cognitively impaired.

Without trying to spoil the absolutely atrocious plot, there are amazing visuals in this series. The visual department might even win a price for their stunning work. They must have cried when they saw the entire show.

Fortunately it starts off extremely good, the first 70 minutes are absolutely engaging and with the looming catastrophe explained, there is no way anyone will stop watching. After 70 minutes they start to introduce the side plots and you will not believe what you are about to experience.

Here is my best guess, this was pitched as a 120 minutes movie but Netflix needed a limited series on a small budget and they forced the writers to extend the original plot by 90 minutes and they had only 17 minutes time before the shooting starts.

It is truly on the Level of "The Room" with slightly better acting. Decisions are made that triggered me to yell at my TV Screen because they completely disabled logic at some point and physics as well.

It turned into an unintentional comedy and that's just sad when you see the stunning visuals that accompany these idiotic characters on their way.

10 Points for the great CGI -6 Points for the writing.

I guess the overall score is not representative for this fantastic, heartfelt dark comedy, you literally can't dub German humor. It's like with Korean shows such as Squid Game, you watch it in the original language with subtitles or you don't watch it at all. Axel Stein is in the business since he is a little boy, he was always sarcastic, the reason why he is still in business is because he is somewhat unique with the way he uses his voice, this will get lost in translation no matter how good the actor on the other side of the microphone is. It's a cute comedy series, with a heartfelt topic, where two average people are crossing lines into a world they never thought they would cross in order to find their missing daughter. Give it a chance, it's quite funny.
