Visually this episode was great - straight up 80s style action cartoon.
But the dialog and writing was completely at odds with what was on screen. Imagine Predator, with all these tough guy soldiers but instead of talking like Arnie and co. They instead talk like Gen Z Twitch streamers playing Fortnite. The story was ridiculous but still fun... but that dialog was pure cringe inducing and really brought the overall episode down.

Watched this show expecting it to be lame, ended up completely hooked. The writing is fantastic, the nostalgia is acknowledged by not too forced in and show doesn't rely on it to be entertaining.
Growing up with the original movie and now seeing how they have picked the story (and characters) up all these years later is fantastic. The characters have become multi dimensional, complex, and tragic in some ways. The writing is fantastic.
My only criticism is that Season 2 focused way too much on what felt like teen drama instead of the core storyline like the first season did. Hoping it gets back on track with Netflix on the 3rd season.
I just finished my second rewatch of the first season and about to kick off the second season again.
Such a great show, watch the original films then launch into this...perfect viewing during these crazy times of isolation.

I really can't stand superhero stuff (outside of nostalgia trips to Keaton Batman or Ninja Turtles cartoons) so I went into this expecting to hate this...but actually really enjoyed it.
It's silly, ridiculous, unbelievable, and over the top, but it's a really entertaining take on the genre. Instead of cardboard cutout one dimensional (or really contrived multi dimensional) characters of the last 20 years of superhero garbage, this is more about the dysfunctional family and how they deal with these ridiculous situations they end up in, which are usually a result of all of their personality flaws.
Season 2 showed more character development, and I think it's actually a lot better than season 1. It's no Breaking Bad, Sopranos or even an X Files, but it's a fun little show and is worth checking out.
