The original Poseidon's Fury: Escape from the Lost City was like everything else in IOA; a technological achievement. It blended detailed sets, groundbreaking F/X, a talented live actor, and great animation all weaved together with an engaging story to create an incredible in-the-movie experience (much like a beefed up T2 3-D: Battle Across Time).

The original version had a wise elderly man as your tour guide as he took you to Atlantis where Poseidon rules. It's here your tour guide is revealed to be Zeus and he fights his evil brother Poseidon to save the human race. The gods are animated in this version with a stellar voice cast and Poseidon (voiced by Jeremy Irons) is a merman creature. The story seems to click in the original.

The new version gives you a whiny guide who accidentally takes you to Atlantis where he gives Poseidon (now a good guy) his trident so he can fight the bad guy who took over Atlantis. Not only is your guide annoying and the plot sucks, but the gods are projections of B-movie live actors in cheap costumes floating around the screens. The F/X are still good but not everything clicks in this one.

So I give the original a 10 but the new one a 6!

If your a fan of Hanna-Barbera or animation in general, you owe it to yourself to experience this attraction! Let me start off by saying if you didn't see this attraction at Universal Studios Florida, you've missed out, and will never be able to get the full experience! If done anywhere else, you will miss out on the immersive theming in the attraction and in the preshow, and the biggest loss is the incredible post show.

The show has great animation (combining computer generated backgrounds and traditionally animated characters flawlessly), a very fun story, and is a very engaging experience! Fun for both adults and children.

It's replacement, Jimmy Neutron's Nicktoon Blast, is also fun, but just doesn't have that certain charm that you got with Yogi helming your ride.

This attraction follows the same formula as it's predecessor, The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera, except it takes you through the Nicktoon's worlds instead of the Hanna-Barbera character's worlds! This time you have Jimmy Neutron in the captain's chair instead of Yogi, which unless your a fan of Jimmy, can lead to a some-what annoying and overall less entertaining experience.

The attraction is simply fun, a treasure trove of classic Nicktoons make an appearance, and is exactly to this generation what Hanna-Barbera was to our generation! Fun for the whole family but the whole attraction, including the post show, lack the charm it's predecessor gave off.
