  • Master Of Disguise...more than meets the eye.

Sheer genius cannot even begin to properly address this cinematic achievement, to call it any less is an insult. Dana Carvey, on the surface, plays a bumbling Italian waiter who inherits the power of disguise; however, if you dig a bit deeper & peel away the layers, you'll find a motion picture which is a scathing, yet biting social political statement on society as a whole. One cannot begin to hopefully comprehend or decipher all the psychological & stereotypical boundaries this film breaks. It is a surprise to find this film in mainstream theaters as a film on this level & caliber would normally only be found in the finest arthouse theaters. If you plan on seeing Master of Disguise, I suggest keeping your afternoon free, as after viewing, no after witnessing it, you'll need the rest of the afternoon to invest in deciphering the dense narrative. Admittingly some of the jokes were over my head, but all truly great comedies take a bit of effort for comprehension. Only for serious film viewers & students of the artform as a whole.

  • A fun but unoriginal anime...

Medabots springs from the same well that gave us Pokemon, Digimon, Mon Colle Knights, Yu-Gi-Oh, & all the other collecting-based show. Despite that, it's a fun little show with alot of laughs & nice character design. The basic premise is almost identical to Pokemon, except for collecting & training various monsters for battle, in Medabots it's various robots. In a neat little twist, the winner gets a part of the loser's Medabot. Our Heroes in this show are Ikki, a young boy who dreams of being the best at fighting Medabots & his Medabot, Metabee. Both characters are quite stubborn & have their own ideas on how to do things, which leads to various humorous situations, but at the end of the day, they both realize that they need one another. Like I said the show, while not very original is quite fun, with some interesting storylines, & unusual character designs. All in all, not a bad little show.

  • A clever dark & revenge driven anime!

While the US dub of this Anime is pretty much nothing more than a commercial to hawk the cards & upcoming toys & games(from Mattel Toys), the Original Japanese version is definitely worth checking out. We're introduced in the series to Yugi, a typical shy kid who loves puzzles & games (& who's Granddad actually owns a card game shop). He is given the mysterious Millenium puzzle & after He & his friends are threatened by a school bully, Yugi solves the Mystic Puzzle & becomes the King of Games (ala Hellraiser)& so the adventure begins.

Alot of what was in the Japanese version never made it here, partially because networks seem to love to dumb anime down, & partially because of some of the more mature storylines. The series is very dark & revenge driven at times, which is actually part of the show's charm & sets it apart from the pack. The animation is quite good for TV anime fare, The character designs are impressive & though at times the show does push the cards (it is a crucial element to the story) they do it in a believeable & interesting way. I would highly recommend this series to any anime fan & even check out the Amercian version as a primer to the Japanese one. Give it a try, You'll be pleasantly surprised.
