The prospect of a science vessel full of nasty creatures landing on earth is a great concept.
The development of the creatures themselves was great but how they all looked better than the actual alien from the franchise is beyond me. I saw an interview where they said they had tried to make the alien not just look like a person in a suit ...... need to try harder on that one. When it was CGI it looked great. The fight sequences were believable and brutal but often you could just see it was a suit outside of this and it crushed the atmosphere.
The synths, again, was solid enough as an idea but most of the time it falls flat. It could have been far darker if they tried. Felt like a gen z adaptation at times which is disappointing to witness for this franchise.
The music choice was jarring. Throwing in metallica, radiohead and queens of the stone age just doesnt fit in the alien universe. Felt completely out of place and i rolled my eyes through the entire series at this.
The best episode by far was when they showed the demise of the ship. Basically just sticking to a tried and tested blueprint.
Lets hope they take a darker tone in season 2, work on the appearance of the aliens in a suit and sort the score out.
Lots of potential squandered by strange artistic direction mostly.

Seasons 1 and 2 would be right up there as a 9.
Season 3 was still strong at a 7 or an 8 at a stretch.
But what has happened to season 4?
I love my horror and sci fi genres. I dont mind gore and graphic violence. But season 4 takes the foundations of the first few seasons and over amplifies them in all the worst ways.
The boys always had shocking scenes but they were spread out enough for you to keep wanting more whilst maintaining your interest in the captivating story of flawed superheros.
Season 4 throws you into a world where pronouns are seemingly integral, characters become gay on a whim and overdramatised violence is constant with no regard for a progressional story line.
If anything sums this series up for me its a human centipede rim job.
Just well and truly over it.
Id rather be at the end of the centipede than hear another nonsense pronoun in a tv show. Gen V had all the warning signs. What has the world come to.

Good story, well told but dwells on select people cases too much (the vlogger couple in particular) and artistic dramatic slow downs (person looking longingly into the sky to show they are reflecting) etc.
The doco completely skipped over the cyber attack suspects, the police investigation, the legal action outcomes and how the business was still able to operate, the processes they have put in place so that it doesn't happen again etc. This is critical information and should have taken precedence over a handful of case studies.
It is watchable because its an interesting story, just think netflix could have regulated the content focus a bit more.
