M3GAN 2.0 surprised me, as it's definitely better than the first one.

This time around, M3GAN isn't just a rogue A. I. gone bad. She's evolved - not only in her capabilities, but in her personality, and honestly, she's the best part of the movie again. Her sharp wit and chillingly accurate social commentary make her feel like the sarcastic mirror we didn't know we needed. The way she dismantles people with pure data and brutal honesty is very satisfying.

Case in point: the scene where she roasts Christian (yes, "Chris-tee-ahn" - the pronunciation alone is a jab) based on Gemma's browser history had the whole theater chuckling awkwardly. That moment hit a nerve - and that's what this film does best. It needles at the absurdity of performative progressivism, online hypocrisy, and corporate shallowness.

The plot does wobble, especially in the middle. Some characters feel undercooked, and the pacing drags before ramping up again in the final act. The horror elements are more completely gone this time, replaced by a tech-thriller vibe that doesn't always land. But the ambition is there, and I respect that.

Is M3GAN 2.0 a masterpiece? No at all. But is it worth your time if you like your thriller with a bite, and a light sense of humor? Absolutely.

The Fantastic Four First Steps is not a great movie but here's nothing really wrong with the movie, and in fact is a great step in the right direction for Marvel after so many duds in a row. This movie and Superman will start to rebuild some good faith with the general audience for the genre. There's still more that needs to be done to be done to regain that faith so both Marvel and DC need to be on their top game for their coming films. But if The Fantastic Four: First Steps is any indication, there's reason to be cautiously optimistic.

Studios don't need to complicate things, don't reinvent the wheel, it just needs to tell good stories again, with attractive characters and fun moments, teachable lessons and bright and hopeful messages. Again, First Steps may not soar, but it walks confidently in the right direction.

From the opening shot to the final, we're truly taken over to the Metropolis of the comic books. James Gunn's Superman gives us what we've been waiting for since 1980. Blending science fiction spectacle, unapologetic comic-book flair, and an uplifting message about hope and heroism, it's a thrilling ride that made me feel like a kid again.

David Corenswet steps into Clark Kent's boots (and cape and trunks) with a perfect blend of humility and quiet strength. His portrayal captures both the wide-eyed wonder of an alien discovering Earth and the steely resolve of a protector willing to sacrifice everything. Opposite him, Rachel Brosnahan's Lois Lane is sharp, and becomes the bastion that holds our hero-their relationship takes no back seat here.

Gunn's direction is assured and energetic, delivering relentless action without ever losing sight of character. His comedy is there, too, but not too on the face, just what this movie needed. The battle sequences are staged with clarity and weight. The updated score pays respectful homage to John Williams' classic themes while delivering fresh fanfare that soars alongside Superman's first flights.

All told, Superman is everything a Superman comic fan could hope for. I left the theater grinning and ready for round two. Highly recommended for fans old and new (kids will love this introduction)!
