So I have been binge watching this show recently and I have thoughts. This is about as far as I have made it without leaving a review but there are simply too many issues here to ignore.
First, the writing... It is so obvious that the writers are just making stuff up as they go along. The story is simply too stretched out with over 20+ episodes every season which leads to idiotic storylines taking up so much space. The bigger issue is that actors and characters come and go constantly without any sort of consistency. For this season (3) in particular, Maya's "cousin(?)" is introduced and he is just a total useless vessel. The writers were once again terrified to have Emily be strictly a lesbian so I knew at some point they'd have her make-out with some random guy but this was all too disappointing nonetheless. Also, they add and remove things from "the night Ali disappeared" and it's so dumb everytime.
Now, I have some theories that I want to see if they come true later on. First, I think Maya's "cousin" whatever-his-name-is is gonna turn out to be her ex who probably killed her instead of whoever "A" is. Second, I very much doubt there will ever be a good reveal or a reveal at all of who "A" was all along. The writers have dug themselves so deep with this all-knowing and all-powerful "A" that there is no way any reveal will be satisfying. Also, the parents are all soo boring. Let's not even get into Aria's pedophilic relationship... What a mess of a show that I will continue binging for some reason.

I know a lot of people had issues with Season 1 but to me at least that season had a clear goal and an emotional journey. I cared about some of the characters; especially Mistuki and Caspar. Cole had his own mission that was also somewhat interesting and Aneesha still had a lot to do within the story. Now, fast forward to the middle of the final season and all the emotional weight is just fully GONE. I could not care less about any of these characters anymore.
It is so important for the writers of a show to have the entire storyline written before starting season 1. It's so obvious that these writers though are just going with the wind. There is zero connection between this final season and the first. These characters now feel like caricatures. Take for example a character like Maya. She appears in Season 2 and for all ten episodes she builds an emotional connection with Mitsuki, caring for her and just being there close by. Well, she just disappears completely in season 3. All the kids from seasons 1 and 2? Whatever emotional build up there was with them it's just gone now for some reason. Where is Monty? Why should we care for Clark? Do you guys remember Kaito? What about Rose that we followed for ten episodes only for her to disappear as well. Worst of all though it's Nikhil. I DO NOT CARE ABOUT HIM. Stop trying to make him seem nice and caring now when he was a horrible person in season 2 and SOMEHOW survived only to come back as a nice guy for Mitsuki. Did one single person feel anything when he supposedly died in season 2? I highly doubt it. Would anyone care now if any of them died?
There's not a single character I feel much about anymore. They've killed all the emotional impact by bringing in and taking out characters left and right. Mitsuki has become an empty vessel for them to tell this idiotic story about "memory loss" alongside Cole. It's just so convenient that they remember and misremember things whenever the writers feel like it. It's too late now but imagine if Mitsuki and Maya had gotten together. Imagine the emotional weight of Mitsuki having to let go of Hinata and accepting a new lover. Imagine if Cole's partner from season 1 actually appeared ever again. Imagine if Aneesha had anything of importance to do ever again. Imagine if Caspar and Jamila were allowed to exist together and keep building their relationship. The writing here is comical and childish. They are too afraid to take any risks and now I do not care even a little bit about any of them. Why should I keep watching? Well I've unfortunately invested so many hours into this which is why I am so upset they botched this entire story this way. The aliens also make NO sense whatsoever and have no personality, no goals, no ambitions, and are not scary. They're just anecdotes the hollow characters in the show mention from time to time. Boring uneventful emotionally vacant mess.

This is a theater must watch for any movie lover. Absolute cinema. Every shot on the racing track is incredible and brimming with talent behind the screen. Every actor in front of the camera also does a wonderful job. Brad Pitt should be seen as a top 10 all-time actor by now. Every role he takes he OWNS. Damson Idris is going to be a big star in Hollywood for decades to come. Kerry Condon and Javier Bardem are always great in every role as well. There wasn't a single weak point from the talent pool in the cast or behind the camera.
The only issue is that the story is a bit too familiar perhaps by now. I mean Cars 3 did this exact same story eight years ago. That being said though, by the end, the only appropriate response to this story are tears. I enjoyed every second and I will not forget how good the engines revving up sounded in the cinema.
