There are few redeeming factors for this film.

The cast is really good and should deserve more .

The plot, and narrative are excruciatingly poor.

There is one point where an antagonist states "we are in the middle of the sea, she can't just disappear" ... well, duh, that's almost the prefect leave to make a person disappear.

I'd like to say something nice bout this lame film, but I si p,y can't.

So, unlike many of the reviewers here I haven't read any of the books. And, although I love Richard osman, I'm unlikely to bother on this showing.

As a whodunnit, the film is an absolute dud. I've rarely watched a film with so much repeated plot/character exposition (here: Ian Ventham, Bobby Tanner and Tony Curran) and yet fail to place or care about any of them. It seems every scene has something along the line of 'so in Bentham can scr*w us, even when hés dead, but only Bobby tanner can stop him´ ... in nearly every blooming scene!

Awful drudgery.

And don't get me started on Pierce Brosnan. If ever there was a casting call for Ray Winstone, this was it and yet PB hits every bum note available. Terrible casting choice.

This song hits all the beats and notes for me, all the elements of my perfect film wrapped up in a beautiful little comedy-drama-romance.

The performances are spot on. It's funny throughout, but also tender, and reflective, and romantic.

I think you can see it as an essay about moving on from the past (in various ways), and about authenticity and connection.

Beautiful highly recommended.

I am now filling out some extra unnecessary words because for some reason you need to have 600 words. Although I think sometimes brevity is underrated . I'm currently listening to the soundtrack for this wonderful wonderful movie and waiting for the....
