Jake G gives a master class in acting if you're able to pull yourself out of the movie long enough to take advantage of the teaching. As for me, I'm no actor, so I was pulled into his shoes from his first asthma attack to his last phone call. This movie keeps you on the edge of your seat, the tension is almost unbearable, and the various twists are fantastic. I don't want to say more and scream everything up for future viewers.

Yeah, I guess it's sort of a feminist movie, and I didn't read the book so I can't comment on that, but the whole thing seemed like an excuse to serve up a bunch of porn. I got so bored with the lengthy sex scenes, I ended up fast forwarding through them. The people were beautiful, and there was some male frontal nudity which is unusual in non-hard-core movies, but I still just got the feeling they were using the interesting characters as an excuse to serve up some soft core porn which sort of works against the whole feminist thing in my opinion. What made it all worth while was Maggie's story. What a great way to let this young woman's experience come out. She was so poorly treated in the actual time that she tried to bring her complaint against her former teacher. A teacher should be protecting a student and what she went through was absolutely inexcusable. I am so glad the story was able to be shared publicly in a movie and book. That must make her feel a little vindicated. The other two stories were interesting and left one thinking but again felt like excuses to serve up long sex scenes.

It IS FUNNY, but it's also painful. It's realistic and portraying how bitter some people can feel over their jealousy of other's successes, and that can be funny, but this is so sharp edged that it actually is a little painful at the same time to watch. There are actually no redeeming qualities about the main character so as you watch you sway back-and-forth between really disliking him and really feeling sorry for him and your way back-and-forth between wishing you were in his classroom and feeling really sorry for the kids who are. Maybe as the series progresses I'll enjoy it more but I'm not really sure I have the stomach to continue.
