It's very Wes Andersen, so if you like his style you will probably like this but it's definitely in the mold of his recent work not the older things.
Acting is good but only way I'd describe it is intentionally off centre.
Usual lost of known actors doing there acting in a strange situation.
It seems more and more likely Wes is drinking his own kool aid and all the people around him are saying its not kool aid but fine wine.
..............
I watch these films thinking maybe he will take some cristicm onboard but the director seems far past listening to anybody making even reason arguments about his work. It's very much his own projects now, not sure why it keeps getting funding because they all seem to lose money but some studio executives somewhere must hold a soft spot for him.
His movies are now just a collections of scenes that don't seem to even build to a conclusion in the end.

Acting, intrigue, dialogue and cinematography are spot on throughout but the warning signs are there earlier in the movie. When the potential candidates talk about being a new liberal progressive church, it makes you wonder where else there going to go with it and boy do they go with it.
I let the odd tone shift go but the ending, which I won't spoil, that comes out of a different movie and causes the lead to go against everything they shoot for during the movie.
It seems like a slightly less expected political thriller over what is a big event in the world as and when it happens but then shifts like rollercoaster in the final scenes.
