Clint Bentley offers a beautiful movie here, an almost immersive meditation about life and loss, every life's value, its beauty, its happiness, and its tragic. There must be a sense of every minute spend, of our love and labour as long as we walk on earth, and he presents these kind of philosophical reflections about life's deepness without ever getting esoteric or kitschy.
Beautiful photography, editing and music, great cast, towered by Joel Edgerton giving a heartbreaking study of a man lost in grief and loneliness.
It's getting so intense that you can almost feel his pain yourself. A rare example of what a movie can do to your soul and senses in case you are able to open up yourself to it.

I loved Berger's recent films, so my expectations were high. But I can't help it, this movie left me disappointed. For me they all walked into the Style-over-Substance-Trap with this one. There's so much accumulated talent, breathtaking camerawork, psychedelic colours of stylish settings and costumes, hysterical soundtrack and last but not least Colin Farrell and Tilda Swinton, who are both unable to act boring or uninteresting. But the kind of ghost-story which they try to develop never has the slightest chance to get convincing in any way. It's simply too flat and it's being suffocated by the exaggerated way they present it. I felt being screamed in my face all the time and wasn't touched by the story or characters in an emotional way, although they ever try so hard. A Pity.
Lanthimos strikes again! And it's another masterpiece. Black Comedy, Satire, Social critic on internet conspiracy theories, weird, absurd, witty, bloody and last but not least a nihilistic comment on mankind working on its own extinction.
And what an intelligent screenplay it is! And all in all an exciting and entertaining movie with surprising twists. How many times can you leave the theatre feeling refreshed and inspired, because you know you have just watched something you have never seen on a screen before? Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons deliver great performances, on top of their skills. It's such a pleasure to watch actors with their depth and intensity.
I loved the whole experience, it's a brilliant movie, strongly recommended.
