Received a BS in physics from the University of California, San Diego.

He created Beavis et Butt-Head (1993) for MTV and Les rois du Texas (1997) for Fox. In late 1996 he was determined to get Les rois du Texas (1997) off the ground and bring Beavis et Butt-Head (1993) to an end. This resulted in a struggle with both networks as he tried to convince them that they were two completely separate shows. Wanting to work on Les rois du Texas (1997) for Fox while not completely turning his back on MTV, he relented to allowing a series focusing on Daria (1997) but wanted to put the project in someone else's hands.

Good friends with Trey Parker and Matt Stone.

The characters of Mr. Tom Anderson (from Beavis et Butt-Head (1993)) and Hank Hill (from Les rois du Texas (1997)) are based, in part, on his experiences with his neighbors in Texas.

Dislikes celebrities doing voice acting. On the 'Beavis and Butt-head Do America' DVD commentary, he said it's distracting.

Good friends with Seth MacFarlane.

He has played the same character (Hank Hill) on four different television series: Les rois du Texas (1997), Les Simpson (1989), The Cleveland Show (2009) and Les Griffin (1999).

Born in Guayaquil, Ecuador, to American parents, Margaret Yvonne Blue, a librarian, and William James "Jim" Judge, an archaeologist. He was raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Played bass guitar for Anson Funderburgh and The Rockets, a Dallas based blues band, and for Doyle Bramhall, a Texas-based musician.

He was inducted into the Texas Film Hall of Fame in March 2007 in Austin, Texas.

Co-founded The Animation Show in 2003, a festival of animation that put animated short films into more movie theaters in North America than any other in history.

Has a child, Charles Judge (born April 4, 2007) with Katrina Bronson.

He has two daughters, Lily and Julia, with his ex-wife Francesca.

Nominated for the 2018 Emmy Award in the "Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series" category for Initial Coin Offering (2018), but lost to Amy Sherman-Palladino for Pilot (2017).
