Was considered by Zack Snyder and Warner Bros for the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman in Batman v Superman: L'aube de la justice (2016) but lost out to Ben Affleck. Hoechlin later was, however, cast as Clark Kent/Superman on Supergirl (2015).

Tyler didn't have to audition for his role as Superman on the CW show Supergirl in 2016. He was producer Greg Berlanti's first choice for the role so he was offered the role of Superman.
