Louis Freerks

Louis Cornelius Freerks was born in George, Iowa to Martin Cornelius Freerks and Trientje Garrelts Freerks on 12/9/1924. He is of Dutch descent. He had 7 siblings, 3 brothers and 4 sisters. He graduated from George County High School in 1942. Shortly after, he married the "boss's" daughter, Johanna Bos of Boyden Iowa. They came to California in 1942 where he purchased a diary with his sister, Elsie, and brother-in-law Harm Korthals. His brother Harm preferred hanging out in the local bars to working the diary. Soon after Harm left the dairy and returned to Iowa, leaving Louis to manage the diary on his own. The work became to much, so he sold he diary and went into the transportation business.

Louis began working in the movie industry in 1954. He worked on the crew of many original feature films and television series, such as Bandolero, Planet of the Apes, Flim Flam Man, Death Wish, Pioneer Woman, Batman, Charlies Angels and many more. He was beloved by all the film crew and stars who appreciated his work ethic, quick wit and sense of humor. He later started his own honey-wagon business named Oasis. He passed away on November 1, 1980 at the age of 55, shortly after starting his own business and purchasing a new home in Long Beach, California. Louis and Johanna had six children, 4 daughters and 2 sons.
