Attic Panic

Now this one works. The atmosphere is perfect and it's not ruined at all by a goofy ending. Masterclass in horror filmmaking here !!!!

'Attic Panic (2015)' was partially recreated in 'Annabelle: Creation (2017)' (the scene in the barn with the scarecrow) and it's not hard to see why. This is a confident, competent and atmospheric short film. Its 'creature', if you can call it that, is inventive and enjoyable; the subtle special effects used to bring it to life are incredibly convincing. The piece has a solid atmosphere and a strong build-up of tension, ultimately culminating in a satisfying final scare that doesn't feel cheap in any way. It's a really great short overall. 8/10.

When I first saw the strange figure, I wasn't too impressed-it looked like the costume I wore in my Grade 2 masquerade. But as the story developed, it became increasingly interesting and creepy. The fact that the protagonist played a major role in sealing her own fate was particularly clever. Had she acted differently, the outcome might not have been the same.

Once again, this horror short proves that you don't need dialogue, jump scares, or even screams to send chills down your spine. Sometimes, a simple squeaky sound can be far more unsettling than a scream.

The film also makes excellent use of light and darkness. The encroaching shadows build suspense, while the actual horror elements are revealed under surprisingly decent lighting-showing that scares don't have to hide in the dark.

It is the essence of horror, in Gothic tradition, reflected by "Attic Panic". and this does it real good. not only as short film. but as usefull lesson about the rules of genre, reflected by minimalistic but real working tools. a film about ...mistery. about sources of fear. about the mistake changing everything. about fascination as source of fear. and, maybe, interesting support for discover few "Annabell" nuances.

I enjoyed the short also the special effects. The ambience here is pretty creepy and have a spooky ambience. The special effect with the sheet that going off and there is nobody. Inside was very well made. I enjoyed it.
