Avis à la une
I was too excited to watch this movie and of course it was worth a watch. The storyline was not too strong but the acting overall was good (except in some parts). It is great to see Pakistan Film studio progressing day and night but a indeed a great improvement is needed. The movie was quite boring at start but as the time passes interest develops and the jokes were quite humorous and the best thing about the movie was it's constant flow not causing the watcher feel drowsiness or tiredness. Shortly, A good movie about friendship , love and indeed a refreshing story. The movie could be better in terms of acting and storyline. So, Expecting more like this type of (comedy) movies from the Pakistani Media.
I consider myself to be an all-round modest guy. I certainly don't pretend to be something i'm not. However, seeing this 137 min flick, i am fairly certain i would've done a better job at directing while still making enough time for afternoon chai back at home. The film takes us on a rather loop-holed journey into the life of a young salary-man and his posse of two- dimensional friends who, despite our central character's consistent verbal insults and slurs, manage to brush everything off for a 36 hour road trip to crash his 'evil' ex's wedding. I use apostrophes because the only thing resembling something bad she did was prolong their inevitable breakup. Joining in is a girl-next-door who goes through the biggest and fastest personality u-turn (like..literally 15 hours) in the film..and not even in a good way. From a fiercely independent young women to a urban-hipster wannabee ready to put on her ghaghra and dance the night away. I feel a bit silly writing such a serious review for such a light-hearted attempt , which brings me to the headline: While i did go into the movie with reasonably high expectations, it soon became apparent that they were for naught and by the 15th minute i started to view it as a prolonged infomercial courtesy of Hbl and Cornetto (a courtesy that i was reminded of every 10 minutes or so). And to my surprise, i actually caught myself enjoying a few (emphasis on few) punchlines. Moti, the only character worth mentioning, and a few well-timed songs are two sole things standing in between this film and a 1-star review...at least in my humble opinion. Long story short 'best to lower your expectations going in'. Maybe even think of it as an over-budget amateur film instead of a short-budget mainstream one. Might save you the second-hand embarrassment.
Ill admit right now..this is my first Palistani film. no seriously, this is the first one I ever tried out. and Ill admit...it was quite a funny movie. All throughout the movie, the characters were all packing laugh after laugh, and the entire theater was bursting out when it was presented. however, ill be frank..this is the only positive aspect of this film.
The characters are bland cardboard cutouts who we've seen hundreds of times before, like the partier who strikes out with girls,(reminding me of Phil from The Hangover) the workaholic with the terrible girlfriend (reminding me of Stu from the hangover), with the only exception being Moti, played by Yasir Hussain. The only time I've seen a stutter in film was a Kings Speech, except that wasn't used for comedic effect(for the most part). Also, whoever that kid is..someone teach him how to act. seriously, Jake Lloyd would blush, just let keanu reeves teach him, he'd be worthy of it.
the songs were pretty great, but thats all I can really say. (tutti fruity is a guilty pleasure...)however, ill admit If u just play the songs and remove the movie entirely, this would be a much better picture. in fact, I'm gonna download the soundtrack when its released. if it ever does, that is.
However, heres the aspect of the film that bothers me...the character of the girlfriend(yeah, i don't remember any other characters names, sue me..). They keep building her up to be unfaithful, but the only thing she did was not tell him her password. so what if she appreciates a little privacy? they didn't even foreshadow anything. at least show her as somewhat unfaithful ad manipulative so we could actually hate her.

I went to watch the movie after hearing that its a good comedy although the story is not that great but after hearing the jokes, you wont care about the story. I reluctantly took the risk and boy it was a terrible choice. The movie was wrapped in terrible promotion of the sponsors. Some scenes are terribly fit in context and the item number of Ayesha Omer was forced into the situation. The movie is a 36 hour journey of 5 people, 3 of them friends and Shahzad's neighbor Ayesha and her brother, who take the journey to patch up Zaheem's (Shahzad) girlfriend who is marrying a cousin in Lahore. There are many major loopholes and the most glaring one is the road on which they travel, its the Mehran Coastal highway instead of the N5. At least they should have gotten that right although i understand the point of capturing natural beauty. The only talking point of the movie was Moti and his jokes which somehow saved the movie. Some of the jokes were actually good and did crack one up. Other than that, everyone's acting was below par. I hope the director/producer learn that the limit should not be crossed while appeasing your sponsors. Verdict: If you really don't care about the story and have enough money that you don't care for losing 500 to hear a few jokes, go for it otherwise you know what i mean.
"Karachi Se Lahore", a laughter roller coaster.
Movie grips you from start, and takes you into extreme level of comedy. The actors in movie did full justice with their characters, Ayesha Omar (Mariam), Javed Shiekh (Tiwana), Shehzad Shiekh (Zaheem), Ashir Wajahat (Zeezo). But the corner stone / lime light of the movie was "Moti" (Yasir Hussain), he takes movie to next level, he is also co-writer. And at last "Wajahat Rauf" (The Debut Director) do full justice with his movie by his skills.
I'll rate main ingredients of movie as cast (9), acting (9), timing of punch lines (10), songs (8), cinematography (8), editing (9), direction (9), script (10). So each department try to put his 100% and succeeded as well. So overall I give 9/10.
Go Watch it for "Moti" and for "Pakistan". Its worth for your money.
