Moose and Zee

I can still remember Moose's calming voice!! This show was literally my life. I would watch it every day. It was...different in every way possible from other preschool shows/shorts. Now that I look back on it: the music was catchy but not annoying, and the voices were actually tolerable! Most of the characters didn't even have voices, though - Moose did pretty much all the talking, which is good because his voice was perfect. The art style was certainly unique and childlike. You can tell the people who put it together actually cared and weren't doing it for the money or the merchandising (even though Moose and Zee actually became so popular that they did make a few toys very late in the run). I wish Nick Jr didn't do away with it. This is something I wish newer kids shows were like.

My little brother loves this. Our family didn't get the Noggin channel growing up, but we recently bought their new app. There are a bunch of Moose and Zee skits on there, which are his favorite (he also likes the newer Blues Clues, the Oobies and Ni Hao Kai Lan). The songs have never really caught on with me, but I must admit that the animation is well done and the voice work is wonderful on Moose's part. Some of the games are a little repetitive (the "rhyme time" and matching shorts, especially). It's the story time segments that I actually kind of like. Those bits are a perfect way to introduce classic stories to the newer generations. In spite of its age (apparently Moose was on the air since '03), none of the episodes feel outdated. I might change this rating to be higher later on, but I think I've had enough time to develop an opinion on Moose (a positive one).

This was the show I grew up watching back when I was less than a year old. It has produced great songs like "Everywhere I Go!", "Fantastic Day" and "Are We There Yet?", and memorable segments like the one where Moose and Zee go to Frisco's birthday party and the ones where Moose talks to the viewers about finding the matching cards, animals or objects that ends with suffixes. It also teaches good morals like "It's perfectly polite to say please!", "Moving and playing every day can make you feel good in every way!" and "Leaving things on when no one is using them waste power!". Most importantly, the titular characters were the hosts of Noggin/Nick Jr. From 2003 up until 2012, when the branding infamously got replaced the Smart Place to Play brand, and again from 2015, when Noggin was relaunched as a mobile app, up until 2019, when the Noggin App was rebranded. Of course, Moose and Zee will always remain a place in my heart, forever!
