El Paletero

'El Paletero' is great! It's peculiar but only in a positive way. The title translates to "The Ice Cream Maker", which tells you exactly what you need to know about this film but at the same time tells you absolutely nothing about where it goes. Wacky entertainment.

Jorge Servellón is a good lead, ably supported by the likes of Glenn Blackburn, Polache and Edgar Flores. The special effects aren't the greatest but most certainly do the job, while the music also stood out to me whilst watching; the score throughout enhances the flick.

Does the film make much sense? Nope. Is it still a fun time? Absolutely, for me.

Is a satire à la catraché: Kung fu (TV show), El Mariachi and a little pot in the middle... Not bad photography and a lot of funny nonsense Just laugh it is not asking for a prize, just entertaining

N my goal to watch a movie from every country in the world , this time i looked for a film from Honduras and I found El Paletero which means street seller or in this case Ice Cream seller . This particular ice cream salesman is out for revenge for the death of his mother. His mission is to recover her ashes from a group of dangerous cartel members.

To say this film is camp is an understatement. It's mostly a comedy ( I think ) but it also has quite a high level of action and not very good action at that .

The acting is pretty amateurish and the special affects are mostly cheap but once you realise that the whole film is going to be like that , it's quite entertaining in its own charming way.

It is described as a western in the garb but it doesn't feel like one . If anything it feels like a Honduran version on the Power Rangers but with blood . It has the naff acting , the terrible choreographed fight scenes and it's definitely as colourful but it won't be winning any awards outside of Honduras !

A movie that succeeds at what it set itself out to do. keep in mind that Honduras its just barely starting to tap and experiment with its movie knowledge and crafting, so by those standards this manages to become the most self aware Honduran movie out of the small bunch that have come out. Recommended if you enter it with the right mind
