The Debut of an ICON!

Jennifer Lopez in 1999 was known simply as an American Actress, she had at that point been nominated for a Golden Globe for her breakout role in "Selena (1997)" and was about to push her career into a new direction, with the arrival of "If You Had My Love" Jennifer cemented herself as a pop culture queen the song instantly became a summer hit and reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 something very few artists have been able to achieve with their debut effort (ex: Britney Spears, Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera) with that came the even more Iconic music video for the song.

The video is gorgeously shot by Paul Hunter showcases Jennifer's abilities as a dancer and her screen presence as a gorgeous Latina bombshell. The outfits are perfect, the choreography (there's a dance break with multiple styles) is flawless. Jennifer Lopez really showcased everything she brings to the table in her debut video.

"If You Had My Love" became the subject of some controversy when it emerged that Jerkins had written a "nearly identical song" for singer Chanté Moore. Moore asserted that her song "If I Gave Love" was re-written with the same arrangement for Lopez after it was requested by Sean Combs, one of On the 6's producers.
