Darwins Law

Thanks to a well developed story world the movie is 75% action scenes, consistently holding a high production value. Another great thing is the fight scenes that never drag out, as they typically do. The story moves fast, efficiently and stays on point.

We take a dive into the game world where a wide range of fantasy characters deliver out of the blue surprises. And while the brutal general tone keeps us in urgency, director Matthias Olof Eich skillfully blends this with a very delicate humor. Christopher Lee Meadows proves himself as a great player, in a role that demands both athleticism and a wide emotional range. In one sense Darwins Law is the fun version of The Hunger Games and in another it is Die Hard McClane foul-mouthing his impossible situation.

During act one a few elements are simultaneously a bit off and there's a clarity issue, but the break into act two appears already after 15 minutes and from this point on the excellently crafted game scenes completely kill it.

Indie-Action as it´s best. Funny moments paired with bloody action scences. You should not expect Hollywood, but therefor this is a good example that german filmmakers are able for more than typical german rom-coms.
