Youth on the March

Youth On The March is a bit like a continuation of Larry Clark's Wassup' Rockers, with a vertical aspect-ratio and Soviet montage visual-twist.

The film is about a teenage boy stoner growing up with a dog, single parent, legalised weed and nothing much to do. So its lots of pot smoking, punctuated by hedonism.

It all leads to a romantic encounter. The film uses all kinds of simple low-fi special FX or intense angles. Lots of sounds in the mix, layers of stuff, that adds to the emotion.

The film riffs on the honest style of Larry Clark but attempts a zero budget Nicholas Winding-Refn with camera movements and performances. An interesting look at stoner life in Australia.
