Loved this, as a well educated 45yr woman, this was a refreshing new and funny comedy, and I hope there's more.
The main characters remind me of a young version of PhoneShop's characters Ashley & Jerwayne. Chavtastic and funny as hell.
At first I wasn't sure I liked it. But as with all new series you must persevere. I'm glad I did as I came to appreciate Sliced for it's sneakily good writing albeit in a caricature style. In particular you warm to the characters Joshua and Naomi, which I kind of think is the point. Theo's acting as Ricky does grate at times but he seems to settle into the role as the series progress. It has important set pieces of how otherness affects individuals that are set apart by societal attitudes. It highlights this in a way that makes it so 'oh yes that's so obviously not the right way to treat someone' obvious. That's the absurd comedy edge right there. I would like another slice of Sliced please.
Looking at the reviews so far, it seems this is a controversial series. I really enjoyed much of each episode, though there were a few spells that coasted. I think it has justified a full series.
The usual formula, replete with language of the gutter, jungle-speak and totally inappropriate, mad scenarios; but you know what? It works for me!
I have to be totally honest, I found it rather hilarious and so glad to be watching series 2.
First episode of series 2 with the boxing match marks the welcome return of a second series and it is just as good, if not more funny than the first. The scene with the black police officer and the stolen phone had me in stitches; relevant but very funny. What is it with all these low reviews? Have people all had a sense of humour bypass operation or has covid removed their funnybone or "is it cos they is black man?"
Nice one lads!
