'Neath Canadian Skies

In the 1930s-50s, a B-movie was a cheaply made movie running from about 50-70 minutes. Oddly, however, while "'Neath Canadian Skies" is clearly a B, it only runs 41 minutes. I did some investigating and found that Russell Hayden made a string of 40-42 minute Bs...all set in the Canadian west. So, if you like this one, there are more waiting to be seen. As for me, I enjoyed it but feel no hurry to see the rest.

In the first (and rather awkward) scene, some jerks murder a miner because they want his claim. However, instead of just taking it, they want to use an obscure law which states that if someone doesn't use their claim for a year loses the rights to it. So, they will just wait...

In the meantime, a Mountie (Hayden) is going to investigate. But instead of going in as a Mountie, he's incognito...posing as a man running from the law. This way, the baddies will take him into their trust and he can break up this vicious gang.

The film is okay...moderately enjoyable and brief. If you like Bs, you might just like this, too.
