On the Loose

Those who like Scandinavia`s best hardrock export ever - the band Europe will find this movie a very interesting piece. Otherwise, this movie is not a big quality. It`s just a 30- minute film intended for schools, produced by the Swedish "Landorganisations". But as I have said, Europe fans will find there a very rare insight into their pre-The Final Countdown period - a concert performance of Rock The Night, held in a far-northern Swedish town from On The Loose Tour `85, the early version of the song On The Loose and the most unique track - the ballad Broken Dreams, which has not appeared on any Europe official album... So Europe fans go ahead and get this film! It`s in Swedish, though...

I wasn't expecting much from this film or my English subtitles, but I was pleasantly surprised when I found that the subtitles seemed incredibly accurate, and the film was rather good for a 1985 foreign TV short! I found it quite heartwarming with a good message. All the characters seemed genuine, and there was no "bad acting", really (Frasse's words of advice about settling down vs trying to make it big were also rather inspiring). Though, I must admit that in the Nina, Joey, and Peter love triangle I found myself rooting for Joey Tempest... Not because Peter was unlikeable or a bad character, but more so that Joey was so charismatic, I couldn't resist :). Highly recommend for all Europe fans, or 80s rock fans for that matter!
