Avis à la une
I am a bit surprised to see that here is only one other user review at this time about this film... Because it is great (by the way you can find it on YouTube). Yes, it is "only a TV movie", but a very good one at that. Of course, the final act of the Vietnam War is not a pleasant story to tell - but a very important one. And it is fitting that you can see Vietnamese and American characters, all trying to act while they can...
We have great actors like Richard Crenna (Rambo's father figure, Col. Trautman elsewhere), James Earl Jones, Arliss Howard (Cowboy in Full Metal Jacket), James Hong or Haing S. Ngor. The Thai locations are once again suitable, the atmosphere is spot on.
My advice is (if you are interested in the Vietnam War) give it a try.

My review is biased since my grandfather was the real life pilot of the Last Flight Out. It's a good made for TV movie with some modification as Hollywood does to most stories. They changed the roles that the crew played and from the stories that I've heard from my grandfather, some of the actions taken by the co-pilot were actually his actions. I've heard the real story as told to me by Captain Bob Berg himself. I've met some of the other flight crew in person so this movie holds special significance to me and my family. If you'd like to get an idea of what happened in Saigon right before it fell to communist forces of the north this movie depicts a small portion of that.
All-in-all an OK story with a reasonable depiction of what happened.

- AnecdotesOne day while on a break from filming in Thailand, Stephen Tobolowsky was kidnapped, he thought, by monks, but had, in fact, been taken by force to a temple to be blessed by them because he had dropped a twenty-dollar bill into a cup that one of the soliciting monks was holding; apparently, that's more money than they've ever collected in a single year.
- GaffesThe real plane used for the last Pan Am flight out of Saigon was actually a Boeing 747 and not a Lockheed Tristar.
