    Predictable Lifetime-feel thriller

This film plays much like those Lifetime, Showtime or straight to video films in the 1990's with a mix of erotic thriller and suspense. The cover art very much describes and says an lot about the film and the time period of when it was made.

The story is entirely predictable and we know in the end there will be a reveal or twist. We are watching to see how it unfolds. And the twist was ruined by viewing the "Plot Keywords" section tab on IMDB (would not recommend viewing to avoid spoilers). Even without knowing, it comes very late in the film (reveal roughly around 1:24:00).

The main issue is the portrayal and actions of the characters. Mainly the girlfriend Julie. She was the one who insisted on taking the deserted stranger woman Connie to meet her boyfriend and their family despite knowing much about her. She saw her in the marine uniform yet assumed she was trustworthy and that she should guide her (we the audience know she isn't who she's portraying- as she stole the uniform off the actual marine sergeant).

Yet as the film progresses, Julie became more suspicious of Connie and seems to blame everyone and gets increasingly jealous- yet she was the one who essentially introduced Connie to the family.

Along the way, there is a bizarre and not very well explain subplot with Connie and some guy named Mike. Which were easily the weakest scenes of the film.

The plot is simply basic and besides the final reveal- which was a way to make things more interesting nothing quite stands out. There are a few brief explicit scenes with the lead (Kate Vernon- whom slightly resembles Charlize Theron) showing skin.

Overall it's a time passer thriller minus the thrills and true suspense. The film is somewhat reminiscent of the Guest (2014) except of course not as good and it stars a woman opposed to a man.

Very odd film, Somehow manages too hook you though.

This is a very odd film.

But to say this would be kind of an understatement because this film is like a road accident. you really don't want to watch but somehow it hooks you in and you end up watching.

It's got lots of sexual scenes. Some in places you would not expect sex scenes to take place and while this might please some viewers it doesn't help make the film any better.

I didn't find this film entertaining in the true sense of the word but it did help to pass the time.....

Definitely a film for insomniacs and people who just can't sleep.

    Ups and downs

Like a bloodknot, this sometimes gets clogged up (no pun intended), so you can imagine there being some ups and downs too. But if you are a fan of thriller movies in general, you may give this a try to say the least. There are some interesting casting choices - interesting as in nice.

Still this is not an example of major acting or major storytelling - but I would assume that you do know that or should know that before you watch this. Some nice twists along the way and the story moves on nicely. Seen worse for sure - oh yeah there is quite a bit of nudity. Whatever that means for you (good or bad that is)

A Movie That Begins as a Good Thriller, and Ends Like a Mexican Soap-Opera

Kaye (Kate Vernon) meets private Connie (Nancy Cser) in a bar, while watching television news. The matter is about the death of a soldier, and the grief of his family. Pretty soon, she defends Connie and herself against the inconvenient insistence of a man inviting them to have a drink with him, using a pocket knife. The next scene shows Kaye arriving in the town where the family of the dead soldier lives, wearing Connie's uniform and identity. She presents herself to the family as being his fiancée while he was in the Army, and is invited by the family to stay in his home. She gets close to his young sister Gail (Ashleigh Ann Wood), seduces his brother Tom (Patrick Dempsey) and convinces his parents Evelyn (Margot Kidder) and Arthur (Alan Royal) that she is a nice girl. Meanwhile, Julie (Krista Bridges), former girlfriend of Tom investigates her past. Surprising revelation will be presented in the end. This movie has a very intriguing presentation and confrontation, mixing thriller with some erotic and hot scenes, with Kate Vernon performing a very amoral woman. However, after the plot point II, the resolution of the story is ridiculous, ending like a Mexican soap-opera. Kate Vernon is beautiful and sexy and has a good performance with her mysterious character, but unfortunately she can not support such ending. My vote is six.

    Such an awful movie!

Hard to believe Patrick Dempsey took this role! This movie has almost no redeeming qualities. Worst part of the movie would be Mike or Connie. Their scenes together make the movie difficult to watch. The actress who played Connie... oof. Horrible!

I'll say I didn't see that ending coming, and don't quite understand what Connie's plan actually was. It got very messy and didn't make much sense. Anyway, no good!

When the character purchases beer in the variety store he tosses a case of Formosa beer over his shoulder. This beer is made by the Brick Brewing Company of Waterloo Ontario Canada. Obviously filmed in the province of Ontario, it's worth noting that beer cannot be purchased in variety stores in that province to this day.
