Anyway, this is a fantastic documentary that sets out to prove what history and much speculation could not...that Captain EJ Smith did everything in his power to slow the sinking of Titanic and to keep her passengers as safe as possible for as long as possible. The documentary shows that Smith did the right thing by closing the water tight doors (speculation had been that he should have left the doors open so that the ship would have stayed horizontal until it sank, but that would have caused a host of problems ).
For many years, Captain Smith has been made out to be the biggest screw-up in maritime history. This documentary honors Smith's memory by showing hat he was indeed, till the end, a competent sailor.
