Porn maestro Stu Segall gets producer credit (under his Godfrey Daniels) pseudonym but auteurship is still up for grabs on THE HUNTER, revived in just a 38-minute fragment by Alpha Blue Archives. It is packaged with Westerns though it has no Western content.

A bald psychiatrist listens to a session tape, cuing a flashback of Linda (Sandy Dempsey, her butterfly tattoo not visible) who admits to the shrink that she's constantly masturbating. Her husband Mike Crawford (NOT the Broadway musical) doesn't satisfy her, so we see her pleasuring herself with a noisy vibrator and then picking up a guy hitchhiking. This scene is MOS, with dialog added in post-production.

A surprisingly intellectual vignette follows, with Norman Fields, Linda Vroom and John Holmes discussing Machiavelli. The hiker brings Sandy to their place. Nora Wieternik is also there. Richard Smedley humps Sandy, latter sporting a thick bush. Like the previous scene, this is strictly soft-core as we see Sandy lick his balls but the blow job is off-camera.

Brandy gets a great line regarding a friend of hers; "I know for a fact that she's gone down on more ladies than went down on the Titanic". Upstairs a duo is humping on a mattress set on the floor, and the rest of the cast joins them for an orgy. This orgy with Vroom blowing Johnny Wadd goes hardcore, but suffers from the shredded state of the print.

There's a big-tits lesbian scene involving Vroom and Brandy, but the incomplete print ends in the middle of this scene, after Sandy phoned her husband and goes out driving again.

Significance of the title and reason for the shrink/flashback structure is lost in a 38-minute artifact missing at least two reels of footage.
