So, I watched the film last night. I've slept, I've had a couple of cups of coffee, I've listened to the new Pearl Jam single (nice) and all the time in the back of my mind I've been thinking about reviewing Odd Noggins.
You see, I watched the trailer and my first thought was, that looks insane. However, it was gone midnight and i wasn't tired, so I pressed play.
Production value was minimal, acting ability was minimal-to-enthusiastic, special effects were indeed 'special', and the story line, what there was, embraced an almost 'Slackers' mode of storytelling (something refrrenced by two characters talking in a bar).
Let's now adress the frequent female nudity. Here, the director is letting us into his world, with his preference for larger women writ large across the screen. Nothing wrong with that, whatever floats your boat and hoists your mast is up to you. Was it integral to the story, no. Did I have a problem with it, also no.
At just 75 minutes this was the perfect length for a film of this nature.
Was this film gratuitous in nudity and violence, yes. Was it a bit nonsensical, yes. Did it all wash over me like a fever dream, yes. Did I thoroughly enjoy it and will be seeking our the sequel, yes, yes and thrice yes.
