FAQ

Harold & Kumar chassent le burger

FAQ

Harold Lee (John Cho), a young Korean man working as an investment banker, and Kumar Patel (Kal Penn), a second generation Indian-American studying to become a doctor like his father and brother, decide to go to White Castle after smoking marijuana but cannot find the restaurant. However, trouble seems to have no problem finding them.

Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle is taken from a screenplay by co-writers Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg. There are two sequels: Harold et Kumar s'évadent de Guantanamo (2008) and Le Joyeux Noël d'Harold et Kumar (2011).

The stolen Bronco comes to an abrupt stop at the edge of a cliff where, looking down, the boys are astonished to see the Cherry Hill White Castle at the bottom of the cliff. Noticing a hang glider on the roof of the truck, they glide down into the valley, landing in a tree right across the street from White Castle. They each order 30 hamburgers, four fries, and four sodas. When it comes to pay for it, however, they realize that they have no money. Suddenly Neil Patrick Harris approaches them and offers to pay for their food. He tosses in another $200 for the 'love stains' he left in the back seat of Harold's car and returns the keys. After finishing their meals, Kumar has an epiphany and decides that he will go to his interview and become a doctor. When JD (Rob Tinkler) and Billy (Ethan Embry) walk into White Castle with two girls on their arms, Harold realizes that he's been suckered into doing their work so that they could party all weekend and tells them that he is not going to be suckered anymore. Harold and Kumar return to their apartment where they run into the girl of Harold's dreams, Maria Quesa Dilla (Paula Garcés), in the elevator. Kumar makes up an excuse to leave them alone, and Harold ends up confessing his love for Maria and kissing her. Unfortunately, Maria is leaving for 10 days in Amsterdam. In the final scene, Kumar convinces Harold that they need to follow Maria to Amsterdam to keep her safe from all those 'suave' Europeans. Not to mention that marijuana is legal in Amsterdam.

Besides the two sequel Harold & Kumar movies, many of the Cheech & Chong movies are similar. Examples include Faut trouver le joint (1978), Cheech et Chong et la suite (1980), Nice Dreams (1981), and Cheech & Chong, et la suite... (1983). Other stoner movies include Les fumistes (1998), How High (2001), Rolling Kansas (2003), Puff, Puff, Pass (2006), and La loose (2008). If you're interested in movies where the characters have a bunch of wacky adventures (that doesn't necessarily include marijuana), try the two Bill & Ted movies-L'Excellente Aventure de Bill & Ted (1989) and Les folles aventures de Bill et Ted (1991). Wayne's World (1992) and Beavis et Butt-Head se font l'Amérique (1996) might also keep you laughing.

The unrated version offers slightly more nudity and a few new plot scenes. Altogether the Unrated version is 55 seconds longer and contains 11 differences.
