The Last Supper

Written, produced and directed in 1996 by a 17-year-old film prodigy, The Last Supper tells the story, through creative metaphorical images, of a man living his last hours and how he comes to spiritual and emotional resolution with that fact. Filmed on location in a number of western U.S. states, this short film is striking in its philosophical scope.

How lovely. A tale of isolation, catharsis, the familiar yet always surprising spiritual discovery, etc. The carnival scene was really good. What an amazing array! The scene in the bathroom with the main character 'The Person' making all kinds of wild faces in the mirror is so reminiscent of a very similar scene Steven Soderburgh did in Schizopolis. Schizopolis was released one year after this movie. Could Steven have borrowed from this young talent? There was a brilliant attempt to capture the human condition in this film.

Well, at least the telling of the 'human condition' that has us as forlorn, lost creatures searching for meaning. Our hero in this movie decides that he will burn everything! Start anew. Detach. What a great idea! Seriously.
